If you haven't heard about Steven Universe, please, take a time to enjoy this masterpiece of a show on Cartoon Network and MAX. Steven Universe is an Original Cartoon Network Show created by the amazing mind of Rebecca Sugar, the creator and artist who showed the world how beautiful, exhilarating, and successful LGBTQ+ stories told by members of the queer community can be. After several years of writing for Adventure Time, Sugar moved on to create Steven Universe, and produced The Steven Universe Movie and Steven Universe Future, from 2013 to 2019. The world of Steven Universe was one of the first cartoon shows that explored LGBTQ+ characters and relationships through genuine representation.
In Brazil, Steven Universe and Rebecca are a hit among a younger audience and Rebecca Sugar is a big inspiration for many many queer kids and teenagers.
For the first time in 2019 Rebecca came to São Paulo for CCXP and we took advantage of her visit to amaze her brazilians fans with lots of exclusive content with her. To open this exclusive content series we invited Emicida to join a "Gem Session '' (in the show the super heroes are called the Crystal Gems, we did a work swap here from Jam Session to Gem Session, very fan centric). Emicida has an BMO (Adventure Time) tattooed in his arms, it's a big fan of cartoons and Rebecca. We wanted to connect Rebecca Sugar with a local and outstanding artist to show her the best of Brazil and to amaze the fans with the encounter. Emicida was our first and best choice, of course. The session was amazing… a mixture of songs from Rebecca and songs from Emicida were played while they had a deep personal talk about childhood, song and creativity.
